About the position

The Processing Specialist I - Data Entry role at Deluxe is a critical position responsible for the accurate input and correction of numeric and alpha information found on checks and deposit slips from various clients. This role requires data entry operators to handle Personal Identification Information (PII) with utmost confidentiality and adhere to Deluxe's security policies. The position demands a high level of attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, ensuring that all data entered meets the stringent accuracy and speed standards set by the company. In this role, the specialist will perform basic 10-key data entry tasks with minimal instruction. Responsibilities include entering, correcting, and verifying alpha and numeric data from checks, coupons, and invoices, whether read from images or paper supports. Specific tasks involve keying in the legal amount, courtesy amount, account numbers, invoice numbers, scanlines, and validating payee names and decision check types. The specialist must follow client guidelines while meeting strict deadlines and output requirements. Additionally, the Processing Specialist is responsible for identifying and reporting any client, system, or equipment issues and errors to the department leader. This position requires flexibility in work hours, including the possibility of staying late to complete assigned tasks, and the ability to adapt to changes as the business evolves.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately input and correct numeric and alpha information from checks and deposit slips.
  • Perform basic 10-key data entry for clients with low-level instruction.
  • Enter, correct, and verify alpha and numeric data from checks, coupons, and invoices.
  • Key in legal amounts, courtesy amounts, account numbers, invoice numbers, and scanlines.
  • Validate payee names and decision check types.
  • Follow client guidelines while meeting stringent deadlines and accuracy standards.
  • Identify and report client, system, and equipment issues to the department leader.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Detail-oriented and quality conscious.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Adaptability to change and willingness to learn new processes.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Meet established Deluxe minimums for accuracy and speed in all applicable areas.
  • Flexible work schedule with the ability to stay late to complete assigned work.

Nice-to-haves

  • 10-key experience, 8,500-9,500 strokes per hour is strongly preferred.
  • Banking industry background helpful.
