About the position

The Procurement Category Manager for Freight and Logistics at Hunter Douglas is responsible for developing and implementing sourcing strategies for logistics services across various modes, including TL, LTL, Parcel, Air, Ocean, Rail, and 3PL. This role is pivotal in supporting the company's transformation towards a more efficient procurement function, aimed at leveraging over $2 billion in group spend. The position requires strong analytical and leadership skills, as well as the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve cost savings and service level improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement sourcing strategies for logistics services in alignment with global category strategy.
  • Deliver and set strategy for cost savings targets and service levels, ensuring productivity improvements in TCO and KPIs.
  • Develop regional strategies and carrier mix for logistics services across the US, CA, and MX.
  • Support the development of new technology for e-sourcing, negotiations, supplier selection, and contracting.
  • Champion optimal supplier mix to improve Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) and service across modes.
  • Contribute to enhanced S&OP, escalations, digitalization, and customer experience.
  • Oversee the process to select and manage suppliers/carriers.
  • Measure and track internal performance within each spend category.
  • Provide industry and supplier research, market intelligence, and financial analyses.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in Procurement, Logistics Services, or Transport/Logistics Operations.
  • Advanced sourcing toolkit and supply base management.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret market data and trends.
  • Strong negotiating skills and world-class supplier relationship management.
  • Ability to manage effectively in a matrix organizational structure.
  • Solid multi-phase project management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Advanced competency in MS Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
  • SAP experience is a plus.
  • Proficiency in eSourcing tools.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a consulting role related to logistics or procurement.
  • Familiarity with global supply chain operations.
