About the position

The Procurement & Inventory Manager will play a pivotal role in leading and mentoring a small team to achieve key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement necessary process improvements. This position requires a hands-on approach, blending managerial responsibilities with active participation in daily operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating and monitoring various reports, including back orders, fill ratios, and inventory orders, utilizing advanced Excel skills. Additionally, proficiency in SAP is essential for this role. The position is based in Katy, Texas, and is not remote or flexible, requiring full-time presence in the office from Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM. In this role, the Procurement & Inventory Manager will oversee the parts team and collaborate closely with warehouse personnel to facilitate parts ordering, replenishment, and fulfillment performance. The manager will lead the team in a cross-functional environment, developing and executing parts solutions that align with evolving customer and market needs. A strong focus on process improvement is required, working with various teams to drive efficiencies and optimize processes. The manager will also be responsible for building dashboards and internal/external reports to present key datasets, enabling team members to monitor performance effectively. The role includes acting as the key point of contact for North American Parts, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information is provided to management and customers. The manager will monitor and adjust inventory levels to meet established customer delivery and service levels, manage daily orders and shipments, and maintain an accurate inventory database. Sourcing suppliers, fostering relationships, and negotiating contracts are also critical components of this position. The manager will leverage metrics to drive departmental performance and perform monthly assessments of inventory levels, adjusting stocking strategies as necessary. Additionally, the role involves driving local sourcing initiatives, providing parts training to the dealer network, and assisting with technical support and communications for dealers and internal service personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Parts Team to develop, execute, and maintain parts solutions in alignment with customer and market needs.
  • Drive inter- and intra-departmental efficiencies and optimize processes.
  • Build dashboards and internal/external reports to monitor performance.
  • Act as the key point of contact for North American Parts, providing accurate information to management and customers.
  • Monitor and adjust inventory levels to meet customer delivery and service levels.
  • Manage daily orders and shipments, maintaining an accurate inventory database.
  • Source suppliers and negotiate favorable contracts.
  • Collaborate with sales, purchasing, and other departments to ensure efficient inventory flow.
  • Perform monthly assessments of inventory levels and adjust stocking strategies accordingly.
  • Drive local sourcing initiatives and provide parts training to the dealer network.
  • Assist with parts technical support and communications for dealers and internal personnel.
  • Develop pricing plans and initiatives to grow the parts business.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or 10+ years of experience in the Heavy Machinery industry.
  • 5-10 years of leadership experience preferred.
  • Advanced level Excel skills, with the ability to demonstrate proficiency.
  • Thoroughly skilled in MS Office applications (Word, Excel & Outlook).
  • Good mechanical aptitude related to auto and/or heavy machinery.
  • Parts technical knowledge is required.
  • Proficiency in SAP and bilingual (English and Spanish) strongly preferred.
