About the position

The Procurement Lead for Marketing at Takeda is a senior director role responsible for global and regional category leadership, focusing on the development and implementation of category strategies that align with business objectives. This strategic position involves managing complex spend categories, ensuring stakeholder engagement, and delivering savings targets while promoting procurement excellence and innovation. The role requires collaboration with executive leadership and cross-functional teams to optimize procurement value delivery and minimize risks, while also embracing Takeda's leadership behaviors and values.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with key business stakeholders, including executive leadership.
  • Socialize procurement and category management best practices within the business.
  • Champion procurement policy and wider GREFP initiatives.
  • Collaborate and provide strategic guidance regarding annual planning, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Develop strong working relationships with the wider Takeda business to ensure alignment on key topics relevant to procurement.
  • Lead the development and implementation of the Category strategy at both category and sub-category levels.
  • Manage strategic initiatives across the Category ensuring alignment with regional/global requirements.
  • Create and execute Procurement annual plan using market intelligence.
  • Champion GREFP values and initiatives including supplier diversity and sustainability.
  • Support Category Managers in communicating category strategies and performance metrics to stakeholders.
  • Ensure oversight of internal category management processes for timely issue resolution.
  • Sponsor the development of an effective day-to-day buying experience within the category.
  • Accountable for realizing savings through effective demand management and supplier negotiations.
  • Oversee discussions with various stakeholders to drive process improvements.
  • Provide regular feedback to operational buying teams for continuous improvement.
  • Coach and mentor the team to adopt Takeda Leadership Behaviors.
  • Conduct individual performance management processes for direct reports.
  • Engage in regular quality conversations with direct reports and key partners.
  • Support the creation and execution of development plans for direct reports.
  • Develop a succession plan for the team to ensure a pipeline of talent.
  • Foster a climate that inspires open dialogue and diverse opinions.
  • Identify budget needs to support annual operating activities.

Requirements

  • BA or BS required; MBA or Master's Degree with Supply Chain/Procurement emphasis preferred.
  • Minimum of 15 years of People Management experience in a complex, global environment.
  • 15+ years of strategic and operational procurement experience with knowledge of category management.
  • Minimum of 15 years in the biotech/pharma industry or other highly regulated industries.
  • In-depth knowledge of Category Management and Supplier Relationship Management.
  • Experience in managing category management and developing category strategies.
  • Strong business partnering, negotiation, leadership, communication, and change management skills.
  • Direct experience in executing and leading operational buying activities.
