About the position

The Procurement Liaison Supervisor at Brookhaven National Laboratory will oversee procurement activities for the Electron-Ion Collider project, ensuring that all procurement processes align with project schedules and institutional requirements. This role involves acting as a liaison between scientists, engineers, and procurement staff, supervising a team of Procurement Liaison Engineers, and enhancing procurement processes to support the successful execution of the project.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and oversee the day-to-day work of direct reports and conduct performance evaluations.
  • Develop and refine processes and tools for effective collaboration with engineers, scientists, and procurement staff.
  • Provide reporting on procurement process performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Work with scientists and engineers to initiate procurement activities in a timely manner.
  • Ensure purchase requisitions have the required documents attached and are approved and released appropriately.
  • Track the progress of procurement activities and provide status reports using tracking sheets or software.
  • Assist in generating procurement specifications and statements of work, ensuring they meet document requirements.
  • Liaise between scientists, engineers, and procurement staff to fulfill procurement requirements and maintain schedules.
  • Ensure robust procurement documentation is developed and attached to purchase requisitions.
  • Guide scientists and engineers to satisfy procurement requirements.
  • Investigate and resolve issues related to purchase requisition processing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or scientific discipline.
  • Minimum of 10 years' related work experience in an engineering and manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in writing, editing, and reviewing procurement specifications and statements of work.
  • Knowledge of engineering design and procurement processes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively across organizational boundaries.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Visio.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree.
  • Experience supervising staff.
  • Experience in an engineering liaison role with procurement or sales staff.
  • Knowledge of DOE procurement processes and requirements.
  • Experience in a project environment or similar matrix organization.
