About the position

The Procurement Manager will lead strategic procurement initiatives to secure cost-competitive raw materials for North American production sites. This role involves cultivating strong supplier relationships, leveraging market insights, and presenting impactful strategies to regional and global leaders to ensure a seamless and sustainable supply chain.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and recommend short- and long-term procurement strategies for raw material demand requirements.
  • Manage ongoing relationships with suppliers' sales and internal business leaders.
  • Analyze market structure, trends, technical developments, and regulatory trends affecting raw materials.
  • Present formal strategies to regional and global leadership for corporate procurement alignment.
  • Establish regional contracts from negotiation to final agreement with LANXESS leadership approval.
  • Negotiate resolution of disputes and changes in scope with suppliers.
  • Engage with internal stakeholders to coordinate order placement of raw materials.
  • Present a unified message to potential suppliers for fair bid processes and implement new supplier programs.
  • Ensure compliance with departmental objectives regarding supplier evaluations and sustainability initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Engineering, or a closely related field; MBA preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years relevant strategic procurement and/or commercial contracting experience, or 3 years with an MBA.
  • Previous chemical industry experience strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of basic chemical manufacturing processes and market influences.
  • Excellent communication skills with all levels of LANXESS and supplier organizations.
  • Proven ability in pricing and contract negotiations with vendors.
  • Thorough understanding of commercial contract law.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to analyze and resolve disputes and understand internal customer requirements.
  • Strong analytical skills using PowerPoint and Excel; ability to master LANXESS tools.

Nice-to-haves

  • Professional Certification (C.P.M., CPSM) is a plus.
