About the position

The Procurement/Purchasing Manager at Planned Parenthood League of Massachusetts (PPLM) is responsible for overseeing procurement activities to ensure the efficient and cost-effective acquisition of materials, supplies, and medications for health centers and administrative offices. This role is crucial for maintaining the quality and availability of resources necessary for health services and administrative functions, while also promoting a culture of continuous improvement within the procurement team.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and manage procurement strategies for timely acquisition of materials, supplies, and medications.
  • Oversee the procurement process, including vendor selection, contract work, and purchase order management.
  • Evaluate, negotiate, and approve contracts with suppliers to obtain the best price and service.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies, state and federal regulations, and industry standards.
  • Evaluate vendor performance and resolve any issues or discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Monitor and manage inventory levels to ensure adequate supplies without overstocking.
  • Develop and manage the procurement budget in collaboration with the CFO.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the procurement team, promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve procurement processes and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in procurement or supply chain management, with at least 2-3 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of procurement principles, practices, and regulations.
  • Experience in the healthcare sector, particularly in managing medical supplies and medications.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to develop and manage budgets effectively.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and inventory management systems.
