About the position

BAE Systems is currently seeking a Procurement Analyst (Strategic Sourcing) to support the Combat Mission Systems (CMS) sector, which encompasses Department of Defense Vehicles, Aerospace Products & Defense Group, and Weapon systems. The ideal candidate will be responsible for identifying, qualifying, and onboarding global suppliers while achieving the Sector's offset targets and other business objectives. This role requires a strong technical capability to effectively communicate with design and component engineering teams regarding quality improvement topics and cost reduction opportunities, both internally and within the supply base. The candidate must also possess excellent interpersonal skills to foster supplier relationships that support business needs. In this position, you will identify and collaborate with internal stakeholders and suppliers to introduce new and innovative technologies and processes aimed at improving margins and service delivery. You will monitor and evaluate global market trends, intervening to manage or mitigate the impact of supply shortfalls or price adjustments, as well as capitalize on market opportunities. The role involves leading and implementing long-term strategic projects and executing long-term strategic supplier agreements. You will drive strategic initiatives, manage the RFQ process, analyze supplier bids, and make informed sourcing decisions. Additionally, you will be responsible for developing long-term agreements (LTA), conducting negotiations, and creating LTA Purchase Orders, ensuring compliance and resulting in superior cost, quality, and supplier delivery capabilities. The position also entails the development of suppliers approved for quotes while collaborating with commodity teams, identifying second sources to enhance BAE Systems' position, and furthering the development and implementation of long-term strategic projects. You will engage in high levels of collaboration and communication with commodity managers, tactical buyers, and other Integrated Supply Chain areas. Analyzing forecasted data and supplier bids is crucial, as is applying continuous improvement techniques to internal processes to increase efficiency and reduce costs. You will ensure that appropriate cost or price analysis is performed to determine the reasonableness of supplier bids and to develop negotiation positions, ensuring compliance documentation requirements are met. This role may be located at multiple CMS sites, with remote work options available.

Requirements

  • Minimum 4+ years of related experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Previous work experience in the Defense Industry is preferred.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams.
  • Working knowledge of engineering terms and blueprints.

Nice-to-haves

  • Strong working knowledge of developing RFQ/RFP, contracts, and preparing financial analysis.
  • Outstanding Microsoft Office skills, particularly advanced Excel skills.
  • Experience with purchasing multiple commodities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics and component drawings.
  • Knowledge of ITAR restrictions and FAR/DFAR requirements.
  • High ethical standards and ability to perform under pressure.
