About the position

The Procurement Sourcing Principal Specialist at Honda plays a critical role in supporting the Development and Manufacturing Divisions by executing sourcing and cost strategies. This position is responsible for reviewing and approving new model and mass production RFQs, maker selections, and supplier proposals, while also providing leadership and mentoring to the Procurement team. The role involves collaboration with buyers to create effective cost strategies and ensuring that production costs align with business targets.

Responsibilities

• Review and approve quotations and estimations submitted by buyers to set production costs and profitability for global ATV & SxS models.
• Develop supplier, part, and commodity strategies in collaboration with buyers to achieve cost reduction and avoidance.
• Approve maker layout selections based on quality, cost, delivery, and management factors.
• Monitor product design changes to ensure development cost targets are met and support buyers in negotiations and sourcing decisions.
• Summarize complex cost roll-ups and variables into detailed reports for management and project teams.
• Instruct buyers on creating exclusive tools and cost tables to improve estimating accuracy.
• Lead recovery activities for distressed supplier situations to ensure sustainable production.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in business or a closely related field, or equivalent procurement experience.
• 10+ years of procurement experience, preferably in the Powersports or Automotive field.
• Strong negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.
• Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with Ariba, SAP, or major ERP systems.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage financial information effectively.
• Strong analytical, time management, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Knowledge of the SxS and ATV market is desired.
