About the position

The Production Design Director for Creative Marketing at American Greetings is responsible for leading the execution and timely delivery of creative assets that support Shopper Marketing, Papyrus, and Sales Operations. This role involves managing a small creative team, overseeing a high volume of creative deliverables, and ensuring alignment with corporate goals. The ideal candidate will possess strong project management skills and experience in a fast-paced environment, focusing on both print and digital marketing needs.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the creative development of marketing and promotional pieces, including print, online, mobile, sales collateral, and internal and external selling publications.
  • Manage creative intake needs and assign project work, balancing schedules and bandwidth across designers.
  • Oversee successful completion of assigned work and manage internal approval processes.
  • Collaborate with Shopper Marketing, PPY BU, Sales, REX teams, and outside vendors to clarify project objectives and understand retailer requirements.
  • Maintain expert knowledge of print and digital communication needs and file setup requirements.
  • Work directly with copywriters to align and refine editorial needs for marketing deliverables.
  • Ensure the design team has all necessary information and assets to complete assigned work efficiently.
  • Track and report job requests (ARs), staying abreast of deadline concerns and assigning work to designers in a timely manner.
  • Communicate with Red Studios for product image and lifestyle photography needs.
  • Work with Sales Operations to ensure timely upload of all sales collateral materials for key selling windows.
  • Manage creative asset needs on the retailer MAP portal and oversee timely uploads of seasonal campaign assets.
  • Source and manage freelance support, driving the onboarding process and ensuring timely completion of deliverables.
  • Act as the creative point for Global Sourcing corporate print supplier needs, including approval requirements.
  • Manage corporate logo governance needs, including logo usage questions and approvals.
  • Ensure good SharePoint and server folder naming and archiving structure for project use.

  • Experience managing a large volume of creative work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong project and time management skills.
  • Ability to lead a creative team under heavy workloads and time-sensitive materials.
  • Experience developing creative briefs and providing art direction and design support.
  • Detail-oriented and process-driven with excellent communication skills.
