About the position
The Produce Clerk at Cosentino's Price Chopper is responsible for assisting customers by providing fresh, high-quality produce in a friendly and efficient manner. This role involves various tasks related to the handling, display, and sale of produce, ensuring customer satisfaction and adherence to company standards.
Responsibilities
- Assist customers in selecting fresh produce and provide excellent customer service.
- Prepare, package, and neatly display all products in the produce department.
- Inspect products for freshness, damage, and expiration dates, utilizing proper rotation techniques.
- Operate, clean, and maintain all equipment safely and competently.
- Meet or exceed productivity standards to achieve team and individual results.
- Remove damaged or unsaleable products from shelves and follow proper procedures for damage claims.
- Keep the work area and department clean and safe for customers and coworkers.
- Unload and sort incoming shipments, stocking them in designated areas without damaging merchandise.
- Label or price merchandise as needed and know how to obtain price signs.
- Answer customer questions accurately regarding department products, procedures, and policies.
- Resolve customer complaints professionally and involve management when necessary.
- Comply with health regulations, sanitation guidelines, and safety procedures.
Requirements
- Must obtain a food handling permit within the first 14 days of employment.
- Completion of ongoing training and development as per the Cosentino Learning Plan.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

- Promote new items and weekly specials through merchandising and creative displays.
- Suggest additional products or services to promote sales.
