About the position

Come join the Mountain Park Produce Team! This is a regular position requiring 37.5-40 hours per week, with a schedule to be determined that includes the ability to work open, mid, and closing shifts. The Produce Clerk is responsible for cleaning, trimming, packaging, processing, rotating, and stocking produce while providing exceptional customer service and contributing to a positive and collaborative team environment. The role requires adaptability and flexibility in work style, as well as the ability to manage time effectively and adjust priorities based on the needs of the department. The Produce Clerk will engage with customers in a friendly manner, share product information, and assist in locating products throughout the store. This position also involves preparing the Produce department for store opening and closing, assisting customers with product selection, and maintaining cleanliness and organization in all areas of the department. The Produce Clerk must adhere to food safety policies and contribute to store cleanliness while maintaining equipment and reporting any issues to management. This role is essential in ensuring a positive shopping experience for customers and requires a commitment to the company's vision, mission, and values.

Responsibilities

  • Cleans, trims, packages, processes, rotates, and stocks produce.
  • Provides exceptional customer service and contributes to a positive team environment.
  • Engages customers in a friendly manner and assists in locating products.
  • Prepares the Produce department for store opening and closing.
  • Shares product knowledge and makes recommendations based on customer needs.
  • Maintains cleanliness, organization, and rotation of all areas, products, and supplies.
  • Handles damaged and spoiled products according to company policy.
  • Receives and unloads merchandise, checking quality, count, and condition.
  • Communicates any issues to management and merchandising team.
  • Completes customer special orders thoroughly and provides follow-through as needed.

Requirements

  • Friendly and customer service oriented, with an interest in food and cooking.
  • Previous customer service, food service, retail or grocery experience preferred.
  • Previous produce experience in a retail, farm or distribution environment preferred.
  • Basic math and computation skills required.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to adapt to shifting priorities and needs of a retail environment.
  • Self-motivated with high attention to detail, quality, and presentation.
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively in a team environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Skills to manage difficult customer interactions preferred.
  • Ability to maintain a flexible schedule to meet department needs.
