About the position
The Produce Clerk at WinCo Foods plays a crucial role in maintaining the quality and presentation of the produce department. This part-time position focuses on providing excellent customer service while ensuring that the produce selection is fresh, well-stocked, and appealing. The clerk is responsible for various tasks including receiving and merchandising products, maintaining cleanliness, and engaging with customers to enhance their shopping experience.
Responsibilities
- Sets up and maintains the condition of the produce department according to company standards.
- Provides friendly, courteous service to internal and external customers.
- Ensures product quality and selection by performing visual inspections and proper handling.
- Performs receiving duties including verifying orders against invoices and reporting shortages.
- Maintains cleanliness and eye-appeal of work area, storage area, and selling floor.
- Engages with customers to welcome, serve, and thank them, addressing any concerns promptly.
- Rotates stock and discards outdated or spoiled products to ensure freshness.
- Operates related equipment such as hand trucks, pallet jacks, and box cutters.
Requirements
- Must have a valid Food Handlers Certification as per state laws.
- Ability to perform basic math operations and compute weights and measures.
- Ability to work varied shifts between 4:00 am and 11:00 pm, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally with customers and team members.
- Physical ability to reach, lift, and maneuver objects weighing up to 50 lbs frequently.
- Ability to stand for long periods, walk rapidly, and perform safe movements.
