About the position

University Park is looking for their next produce Rockstar! The Produce Clerk position is essential for supporting the early morning setup from 4 AM to Noon, focusing on the wet rack shifts. This role is not only about stocking and maintaining the produce department but also about providing exceptional customer service and contributing to a positive and collaborative team environment. The Produce Clerk will be responsible for cleaning, trimming, packaging, processing, rotating, and stocking produce, ensuring that all products meet the company's quality standards. The position requires a self-motivated individual who can work independently and cooperatively within a team, demonstrating adaptability and flexibility in a fast-paced retail environment. The Produce Clerk will engage with customers in a friendly manner, sharing product information and assisting them in locating products throughout the store. This role involves preparing the Produce department for store opening and closing, assisting customers with product selection, and making recommendations based on their needs. The clerk will also be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and organization in the department, ensuring accurate pricing and signage, and complying with all company organic standards. The position requires adherence to food safety policies and sanitation standards, contributing to the overall cleanliness of the store and reporting any safety concerns to management. The days off for this position will be determined based on the scheduling needs of the department. Responsibilities

  • Cleans, trims, packages, processes, rotates and stocks produce.
  • Provides exceptional customer service and contributes to a positive and collaborative team environment.
  • Engages customers in a friendly manner, shares product information and assists in locating products throughout the store.
  • Prepares Produce department for store opening and closing.
  • Assists customers with product selection and shares product knowledge.
  • Makes recommendations and suggestions based on customer needs.
  • Builds displays and arranges department products to make attractive presentations.
  • Stocks, rotates and faces products with attention to product quality and expiration dates.
  • Handles damaged and spoiled product according to company policy.
  • Receives and unloads merchandise; checks quality, count and condition.
  • Maintains cleanliness, organization and rotation of all areas, products and supplies.
  • Maintains accurate pricing and signage that meet merchandising standards.
  • Complies with all company organic standards.
  • Maintains awareness of current ads, promotions, holidays and events.

Requirements

  • Friendly and customer service oriented, with an interest in food and cooking.
  • Previous customer service, food service, retail or grocery experience preferred.
  • Basic math and computation skills required.
  • Skills to work independently, effectively manage own time and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Skills to adapt to the shifting priorities and needs of a retail environment.
  • Self-motivated, with high attention to detail, quality and presentation.
  • Skills to collaborate and communicate effectively and professionally in a team environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous produce experience in a retail, farm or distribution environment preferred.
