About the position

The position involves managing the produce department to maximize sales and profits while adhering to company policies and core values. The role requires effective communication, decision-making, and the ability to handle various operational tasks related to produce management, customer service, and staff supervision.

Responsibilities

• Implement company and division policies to achieve maximum sales and profits in the produce department.
• Demonstrate the company's core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety.
• Manage all key components of department operations including managing people, merchandising, inventory management, and customer service.
• Supervise all aspects of salad bar operations and ensure proper training of department employees.
• Maintain effective communication with all store personnel and assist in store security.
• Make recommendations regarding hiring, firing, and evaluating produce department personnel.
• Plan, organize, direct, and control the activities of the produce department.
• Direct the receiving, storing, pricing, and merchandising of all produce products.
• Maintain and submit required records and reports effectively.
• Analyze continuously all aspects of the produce department and make recommendations for improvements.

Requirements

• Understanding of all key components of department operations.
• Working knowledge of produce and food preparation.
• Effective written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to make intelligent decisions quickly and handle stressful situations.
• Skills for effective production, merchandising, and customer service related to merchandise sales.
• Desired produce work experience or similar experience in food preparation.
