About the position

The Produce/Dept Leader at Kroger is responsible for implementing company and division policies to maximize sales and profits in the produce department. Responsibilities

  • Implement company and division policies to achieve maximum sales and profits in the produce department.
  • Manage all key components of department operations, including managing people, merchandising, inventory management, and customer service.
  • Supervise all aspects of salad bar operations and ensure proper training of department employees.
  • Maintain effective communication with all store personnel and provide support to customers.
  • Direct the receiving, storing, pricing, and merchandising of all produce products.
  • Analyze continuously all aspects of the produce department and make recommendations to the store manager.
  • Ensure cleanliness and organization in all areas of the produce department.
  • Maintain adequate stock and supplies through proper ordering and inventory management.
  • Handle customer complaints and ensure maximum customer relations through personal example of friendliness and courtesy.

Requirements

  • Understanding of all key components of department operations including managing people, merchandising, and inventory management.
  • Working knowledge of produce and food preparation.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to make intelligent decisions quickly and handle stressful situations calmly.
  • Skills for effective production, merchandising, and customer service related to the sale of merchandise.
