About the position

As a key member of the Produce department at Mariano's, you will create outstanding customer experiences through exceptional service. Your role will involve establishing and maintaining a safe, clean, and fresh environment that encourages our customers to return. You will be responsible for achieving sales and profit goals established for the department while monitoring and controlling all established quality assurance standards. Directing and supervising all functions, duties, and activities for the Produce department will be essential, as well as supporting the day-to-day functions of the Produce operations. Embracing the Customer 1st strategy and encouraging associates to deliver excellent customer service will be a core part of your responsibilities. You will also demonstrate the Company's core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction).
  • Ability to handle stressful situations.
  • Current food handlers permit once employed.

  • Experience in produce handling.
  • Ability to adhere to local, state, and federal laws, safety and food safety regulations.

  • Develop adequate scheduling to manage customer volume.
  • Help train and develop associates on job performance.

  • Review and inspect products for quality and freshness.
  • Utilize Fresh Insights for sell-through and shrink reduction.
  • Recommend produce items to customers.
  • Develop and implement a department business plan.
  • Work in refrigerated areas and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Implement merchandising promotional plans for the department.
  • Monitor and control expenses for the department.
  • Maintain awareness of inventory and stocking conditions.
  • Ensure price integrity including shelf tags and promotional signs.
  • Assist in the inventory process.
  • Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained.
  • Reinforce safety programs and identify unsafe conditions.
  • Practice preventive maintenance on equipment.
