About the position

The Produce Lead at Meijer is responsible for overseeing the operations and processes within the produce department, ensuring exceptional customer service and team member engagement. This role involves mentoring team members, maintaining product freshness, and ensuring compliance with food safety standards while fostering a positive work environment that values diversity and inclusion.

Responsibilities

  • Engaging peers to provide the best possible shopping experience for customers, including an exceptional checkout experience.
  • Communicating with team members and assigning daily work tasks.
  • Mentoring and coaching team members to exceed customer service and sales goals, ensuring the area meets Meijer standards and that team members complete required training.
  • Supporting the training of new team members and cross-training high-potential talent, providing peer coaching on job responsibilities and standards to enhance productivity.
  • Collaborating with leadership on department scheduling to improve customer service, store sales, and profitability.
  • Monitoring product freshness by executing rotation and dating policies.
  • Guiding the team in compliance with food safety standards and regulations, promoting a safe working environment.
  • Leading team members in ordering, receiving, stocking, pricing, and product display tasks as applicable.
  • Creating an environment that supports Meijer culture, including valuing diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Operating a register and handling cash when necessary.
  • Using powered equipment as required.
  • Participating in period-end inventories to help achieve departmental goals.
  • Acting in a lead capacity in other departments as needed.

Requirements
