About the position

The Produce Lead at SpartanNash is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the produce department in a retail store, ensuring that associates are trained, the department is fully staffed, and that all operations meet company standards and performance goals. This role involves inventory management, team leadership, and supporting the department manager in various operational tasks.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day activities of the produce department in the absence of the department manager.
• Order and maintain inventory while utilizing inventory control procedures.
• Review and validate received orders for quality and condition.
• Manage a team to ensure product quality and proper rotation of date-sensitive items.
• Maintain familiarity with all products in the department and store.
• Communicate and execute the weekly and period Flight Plan to company expectations.
• Support the department manager in scheduling, labor control, and payroll management.
• Implement company core values and competencies in daily operations.
• Attend and participate in daily huddles and manager meetings.
• Maintain a clean and well-stocked department according to company standards.

Requirements

• High School Graduate or Equivalent (GED).
• 0-2 years of retail experience preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Good organization and prioritization skills.
• Strong leadership abilities in a hands-on environment.
• Good knowledge of retail store operations and management systems.
• Proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

Nice-to-haves

• Suggestive Selling/Knowledge of Products preferred.
• Ability to communicate in Spanish is highly desirable.
