About the position

Monumental Sports & Entertainment (MSE) is seeking a dedicated and creative Producer/Editor to join our Emmy-Award Winning production teams. In this role, you will be responsible for creating compelling multiplatform video content that engages our fans and enhances their experience with our sports teams. You will work closely with a team of producers and talent to develop video content for linear programming, including pregame and postgame coverage of the Washington Capitals, Washington Wizards, and Washington Mystics. Your editorial judgment will play a crucial role in improving shows and ensuring high-quality content is delivered across our linear TV and digital/social media platforms. As a Producer/Editor, you will have the opportunity to pitch new ideas for video series and original content, contributing to the innovative spirit of MSE. You will also be tasked with organizing and managing media archives and video resources across various departments within MSE. This position requires a proactive approach to balance multiple assignments and the ability to work independently when directed. Participation in production meetings and collaboration with your team will be essential to your success in this role. Responsibilities

  • Create video content for linear programming, including but not limited to, our Pregame and Postgame coverage of the Capitals, Wizards, and Mystics.
  • Edit highlights and feature content for both our linear TV and digital/social media platforms.
  • Work with a team of producers and talent to develop compelling multi-platform video content.
  • Pitch new ideas for video series, concepts and original content.
  • Use your own editorial judgment to improve shows.
  • Be an integral part of our success as a key team member.
  • Organize and assist in managing media archives and video resources across MSE departments.
  • Use a proactive approach and mentality to balance multiple assignments for shows.
  • Possess a high level of initiative and ability to work independently when directed.
  • Participate in all production meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Premiere Pro and After Effects.
  • Familiarity with Dalet Galaxy or similar rundown management system.
  • Familiarity with Dalet Flex or similar media asset management system.
  • Have a keen eye for video editing with a high standard for what looks good on-air.
  • Passion and understanding of sports strategy, vocabulary, and history.
  • Ability to learn quickly, anticipate needs, and perform under pressure.
  • Be a good teammate willing to help wherever needed.
  • Demonstrate decisiveness and outstanding interpersonal and communication skills required in a live television control room environment.
  • Newsroom experience working in live TV environment is a plus.
  • Flexibility to work off-hours (nights, weekends, and holidays).
  • Reliable transportation to offices in DC.
