About the position

As a Producer/Videographer within the Creative Services team at Syracuse University, you will play a pivotal role in the athletics department's content creation efforts. This position involves a comprehensive range of video production tasks, including shooting, editing, and post-production work for all 20 intercollegiate athletics teams. You will be responsible for producing event highlights and feature packages, as well as creating engaging social media content. Additionally, you will manage the distribution of highlights to various external entities, such as media agencies, conference offices, and the NCAA, ensuring that the content reaches the appropriate audiences. Your role will also include overseeing freelance videographers, coordinating their efforts to maintain high production standards. The ideal candidate for this position must be a collaborative team player capable of juggling multiple projects simultaneously while adhering to tight deadlines. Effective communication skills are essential, as you will be working closely with various departments and stakeholders. Creativity is a key component of this role, and you will be expected to bring innovative ideas to the table. Flexibility is also crucial, as the position requires working evenings and weekends to cover events and meet production needs. In addition to technical skills, the role demands a strong understanding of sports and promotional content, as well as experience in managing and training student workers. You will be expected to demonstrate effective time management skills and the ability to mentor both staff and students, fostering a productive and creative environment within the team.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate coverage for 20 intercollegiate athletics teams, including highlights for Cuse.com, awards/banquets, commercial production, and external media requests.
  • Produce creative content, including writing, shooting, editing, and post-production for athletics production, athletic communications, and marketing.
  • Travel with teams as assigned to capture footage and produce content.
  • Manage and archive footage, dedicating considerable time to the archiving process with the athletics production department.
  • Oversee the management and organization of cameras and editing equipment, as well as the coordination of interns.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in broadcasting, television/video production, communications, or a related creative field.
  • Two or more years of professional experience in shooting live sporting events, studio interviews, and special events, as well as editing video and post-production.
  • Strong knowledge of sports, promotional spots, and commercials.
  • Knowledge of video archiving systems is essential.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills and demonstrated experience in a team environment.
  • Working knowledge of NCAA and Atlantic Coast Conference rules.
