About the position

The Product Accounting Lead at Stripe is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing the financial, statutory, and internal reporting processes within the Product Accounting Team. This position involves managing a team, building scalable accounting processes, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with accounting standards. The role requires a strong technical accounting background and the ability to communicate effectively with both financial and non-financial stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple individuals, lead cross-functional initiatives and communicate progress effectively with senior management
  • Build scalable accounting processes to support global growth in payment processing accounting
  • Partner closely with business and finance partners to understand new products, features, and contracts, advising on accounting implications
  • Research, prepare, and review technical accounting analyses
  • Partner with Internal Systems and Engineering teams to support internal financial systems and automation of accounting processes
  • Assess the effectiveness of internal controls, and design new processes and controls for emerging and growing business activities
  • Develop and maintain up-to-date accounting policies and procedures
  • Understand data and system flows and related implications to accounting, analyzing financial results, and identifying and problem-solving financial anomalies

Requirements

  • 10+ years of relevant public accounting and/or industry experience partnering with deal desk and sales functions
  • B.A. or B.S degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA strongly preferred)
  • Fluency in U.S. GAAP and ability to research complex accounting issues
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey financial concepts to both financial and non-financial audiences
  • Strong analytical skills and experience working with large data sets
  • Demonstrated experience partnering with cross-functional stakeholders
  • Experience with internal controls (design, implementation and execution)
  • Demonstrated history of taking on various types of challenging projects and producing results
  • Solution-oriented mindset with enthusiasm for establishing best practices
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously
