About the position

Tyler Technologies, a leading provider of end-to-end information management solutions for local governments, is seeking a Product Analyst for its Transportation management division located in Latham, NY. This role is crucial in enhancing the portfolio of mobile solutions and products by understanding and documenting software requirements that address market problems and meet client needs. The Product Analyst will play a key role in bridging the gap between technical and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring that the product development process aligns with user needs and business objectives. In this position, the Product Analyst will be responsible for gathering requirements from various sources, which will support the product development process. This includes creating User Stories that articulate user needs, program functions, and test cases necessary for system development or modification. The analyst will also research and analyze potential new features based on system requirements defined by business system owners, ensuring that the design and documentation of requirements consider future maintainability and growth of the software. The role requires staying updated on the latest trends in mobile technology and related hardware, as well as demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of the entire ecosystem with a focus on mobile solutions. The Product Analyst will work closely with the Product Owner to manage customer enhancement requests and expectations, and will occasionally travel to client sites and tradeshows as needed. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and possesses strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Relate the application of K12 mobile solutions to real world problem resolution.
  • Demonstrate an in-depth understanding of the entire ecosystem with an emphasis on the mobile end.
  • Stay abreast of the latest trends in mobile and related hardware computing.
  • Gather requirements of moderate scope and complexity from a variety of sources to support product development process.
  • Communicate information in the form of User Stories that support user needs, program functions, test cases and steps required to develop or modify systems.
  • Research and analyze projects for new features based on system requirements defined by business system's owners.
  • Design requirements and documentation with foresight for the future maintainability and growth of the software.
  • Work closely with the Product Owner to manage customer enhancement requests and expectations.
  • Act as a liaison to clearly communicate ideas between technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Occasional travel to client sites and tradeshows required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Sciences, Management Information Science, or Business (equivalent work experience may substitute for degree requirement).
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in software or related experience including but not limited to writing and documenting client specifications.
  • Solid understanding of the challenges of mobile solutions deployment and use preferred.
  • Experience using Agile development processes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the full software development lifecycle and associated methodologies helpful.
  • Keen attention to detail.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills involving the ability to manage multiple work tasks effectively.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills involving communicating technical and non-technical information in writing and verbally.
  • Basic knowledge and experience with data modeling, relational databases concepts, and understanding SQL queries.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaborate in a team as well as across functional groups.
  • Ability to be effective in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to travel if requested.
