About the position

The Product Analyst at Palomar Insurance Agency plays a crucial role in assisting Product Managers with the profitability and strategic direction of assigned product lines. This position involves analyzing product performance, supporting product development, and collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure successful product lifecycle management. The analyst will engage in data analysis, product monitoring, and contribute to the overall growth and profitability of the company's offerings in the property and casualty insurance sector.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the analysis, evaluation, and development of recommendations to influence profitability for multiple products across various lines of business.
  • Design and execute monitoring plans for new products and changes to existing products.
  • Work closely with Product Managers to ensure production and underwriting profitability goals are met by analyzing key performance metrics.
  • Support Product Managers with product strategies based on data analysis and input from internal stakeholders.
  • Gain familiarity with the property and casualty insurance industry landscape and synthesize insights into key product improvements.
  • Collaborate with Product Managers and Business Analysts to ensure proper execution of business requirements for assigned product lines.
  • Demonstrate accuracy, thoroughness, and attention to detail in all tasks.
  • Pursue training and development opportunities and strive to continuously build knowledge and skills.
  • Display original thinking and creativity while meeting challenges with resourcefulness.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Actuarial Science, Business Management, Economics, Finance, Mathematics, or another analytics related field.
  • 1+ years of Product Analyst experience or 3+ years of relevant professional experience.
  • Property and casualty insurance experience preferred, focusing on catastrophe product solutions.
  • Intermediate understanding of product rates, rules & forms preferred.
  • Basic understanding of regulatory filings and actuarial pricing/ratemaking techniques preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and analytical skills.
  • Outstanding written/verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, self-motivated, and a self-starter in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to juggle multiple priorities.
  • Proficient in MS Excel; Power BI experience preferred; SQL or other programming experience with databases preferred.
