About the position

Life at MX is driven by a moral imperative to advance mankind, and it all starts with our people, product, and purpose. We are passionate about creating meaningful and lasting change in the financial industry. As a Product Analyst within the Data Science and Analytics department, you will collaborate with colleagues from the Product and analytic teams to engage in a variety of computational activities. This includes analyzing customer journeys and end-user metrics, conducting data mining exercises, performing data stratification and quality control, and developing dashboards and KPIs. Your contributions will be crucial in informing new product development and maximizing the effectiveness of our product portfolio in the marketplace. In this role, you will be recognized as a talented "data wrangler" who leverages analytic skills to discover new correlations and predictive relationships using MX's expanding, world-class data asset. You will be eager to learn and enhance your analytic toolbox through side-by-side training and self-directed study. The ability to interpret and communicate analytic results will be essential for your success, as will your patience in the face of analytic uncertainty. Your computational background, collaborative spirit, and hands-on approach to problem-solving will mark you as an ideal candidate for this role.

Responsibilities

  • Work with colleagues from the product and analytic functions to design customer and procedural metrics, complete operational and segmentation analyses, predict end-user behavior, and make data-driven recommendations about product features.
  • Evaluate product effectiveness (including versus industry peers), complete market analyses, refine customer value propositions, and collect customer feedback.
  • Write scripts to support hypothesis-based and theory-free data mining projects (e.g., create new pattern recognition algorithms and find hidden relationships between features).
  • Create new data assets, modeling features, and dashboards in service to MX's product platform.
  • Monitor data platform system performance to identify and address challenges to data quality (e.g., accuracy, completeness, and reliability) and availability.
  • Lead data exploration work to generate insights on product effectiveness, institutional client results, and end-user (consumer) financial health.
  • Develop presentations and memoranda to communicate key messages and insights based on rigorous analyses.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on analytical best practices and data visualization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree, including quantitative coursework (e.g., Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Computer Science, or similar) preferred.
  • 3-5 years' experience with operational, financial, or marketing analytics (likely including building dashboards and KPIs and analyzing product performance metrics) preferred.
  • Proficiency with at least one database query language (e.g., SQL); familiarity with Python and exposure to modern data science environments (e.g., cloud, Jupyter, and git) would also be beneficial.
  • Critical thinking skills, attention to detail, and focus on results.
  • Drive to tackle demanding goals with enthusiasm, tenacity in the face of stubborn obstacles, and interest in pursuing personal and technical development alongside other commitments.
  • Commitment to client needs and satisfaction, humility in the face of constructive, well-meaning feedback, and production of high-quality work that builds trust and confidence with stakeholders.
  • Prior experience presenting analytic results and recommendations to stakeholders, managers and team members.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with data visualization tools and techniques.
  • Familiarity with machine learning concepts and applications.

Benefits

  • Hybrid work model allowing for remote work and in-office collaboration.
  • Company-paid meals and onsite perks such as massage therapists and a golf simulator.
  • Travel expenses covered for remote employees when traveling to the office.
  • Incredible office space with amenities like a gym and meditation room.
