About the position

The Application Engineer at Novanta's ATI Industrial Automation business is responsible for managing Force Torque sensor product lines, focusing on developing and executing application use case test plans for new product introductions. This role requires strong engineering principles and a passion for robotics and automation, with a significant emphasis on communication and collaboration across various internal teams and with customers.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Force Torque sensor product lines.
  • Develop and execute application use case test plans for New Product Introductions (NPIs).
  • Develop NPI technical training for field application engineers and customers.
  • Provide technical support as the point of contact for key strategic OEM customers.
  • Partner with Product Managers to develop novel applications for ATI products.
  • Construct product demonstrations using robots and presentations for tradeshows, conferences, and customer sites.
  • Create inbound and outbound marketing content, including competitive analysis, videos, and application notes.
  • Assist product managers in the execution of 80/20 and End of Life Strategy.
  • Act as a product and application subject matter expert for field application engineers and select strategic customers.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to drive product and process innovation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Controls, or related Engineering major.
  • 5+ years of experience in an engineering role, preferably in the automation industry.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience and familiarity with Robot programming (Fanuc, ABB, Kuka, etc.) is desirable.
  • Experience with SolidWorks and MS Office Suite.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with SolidWorks and MS Office Suite.
  • Familiarity with Robot programming (Fanuc, ABB, Kuka, etc.).
