About the position

The Product Application Engineer will focus on promoting continuous quality improvement across various departments, managing the ISO 9001:2015 and IATF 16949:2016 Quality Management System, and ensuring customer satisfaction through effective quality control practices. This role involves collaboration with production, purchasing, and sales teams to implement change management practices and support safety initiatives within the mill.

Responsibilities

• Promote continuous quality improvement in cooperation with production departments, product managers, and suppliers.
• Manage SDI Sinton's ISO 9001:2015 / IATF 16949:2016 Quality Management System.
• Monitor SDI Sinton's RMA system and direct claim flow to reduce customer claims.
• Conduct quarterly and ad-hoc process audits with the quality team.
• Support safety initiatives throughout the mill.
• Perform quality checks in office, laboratory, and production settings, logging results and communicating observations.
• Lead change with a customer and quality-focused mentality.
• Work with purchasing, sales, scheduling, and production on change management practices.
• Prepare for ISO / IATF audits and customer audits with the quality team.
• Manage Automotive OEMs IATF 16949:2016 Customer Specific Requirements.
• Evaluate mechanical properties for automotive grades.
• Write and complete internal Corrective Action Reports (CARs) and customer-required CARs.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Quality Engineering, or a related field of study.
• Three (3) years of experience in the job offered or related occupation.
• Demonstrated experience in Quality Control Management and/or ISO 9001 / IATF 16949 program management.
• Experience with selected user-specific steel specifications, gage and measuring device use and control.
