About the position

Eaton's ES AMER ESS division is currently seeking a Product Application Engineer based out of our Broomfield, CO facility. This role is integral to our Innovative Switchgear Solutions (ISG) business, which manufactures medium-voltage solid dielectric underground switchgear, including submersible, vault, and padmount types. The Product Application Engineer will act as a technical and commercial resource for field sales, customers, and distributors, providing quotations and project management support. This position requires a deep understanding of the underground switchgear market, including utility, commercial, military, and industrial sectors across the Americas. The engineer will leverage their technical expertise to assist the sales team in closing orders, negotiate pricing for various projects, and develop strategies to target customers effectively. In this role, the Product Application Engineer will be responsible for providing accurate and timely planning and specification interpretation, quotations, and technical support. They will collect and analyze market intelligence regarding competitive products and customer preferences, review customer requirements, and propose solutions to customer issues. The engineer will also be expected to attend promotional events, make presentations, and prepare bids and quotations while adhering to company pricing and delivery guidelines. Collaboration with regionally based sales resources to develop a territory sales plan is essential to increase market share and drive sales for both existing and new products. This position involves up to 35% travel and relocation assistance is provided within the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a technical and commercial resource for field sales, customers, and distributors.
  • Provide accurate and timely planning and specification interpretation, quotation, and technical support.
  • Collect, analyze, and utilize market intelligence regarding competitive products, customer needs, preferences, and buying habits.
  • Review and interpret customer requirements on plans and specifications.
  • Provide proposed solutions to customer issues by utilizing available resources or creating procedures for resolution.
  • Communicate market conditions and competitive activities to product divisions.
  • Attend promotional events and make presentations with distributor personnel to promote Eaton's products.
  • Prepare and present bids and quotations to customers using company price and delivery guidelines.
  • Work with regionally based sales resources to develop a territory sales plan.
  • Plan sales activities with distributors, major accounts, and for major projects in an assigned territory.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Three (3) years of work experience in engineering, sales/marketing, or manufacturing engineering.
  • Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and in the future.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.
  • Experience selling medium voltage underground distribution switchgear or associated products into the Utility Market.
  • Two (2) years of experience in Utility/Commercial or Industrial sales engineering.
  • Five (5) years of related sales engineering experience.
