About the position

The Product Application Engineer at Novanta Corporation is responsible for managing Force Torque sensor product lines within the ATI Industrial Automation business. This role involves collaborating with various internal teams and customers to develop product requirements, execute application test plans, and provide technical support. The engineer will also create product demonstrations and marketing content, ensuring effective communication and continuous improvement in product and process innovation.

Responsibilities

  • Own or assist product managers in developing Product Requirements Documents (PRDs)
  • Develop and execute application use case test plans for Product Introductions (NPIs)
  • Develop NPI technical training for field application engineers and customers
  • Act as the technical support Point of Contact for key strategic OEM customers
  • Partner with Product Managers to develop novel applications for ATI products that create significant customer value
  • Construct product demonstrations using Robots and presentations to showcase product capabilities at tradeshows, conferences, and customer sites
  • Create inbound and outbound marketing content, including competitive analysis, videos, and application notes
  • Assist product managers in the execution of 80/20 and End of Life Strategy
  • Be recognized as a product and application subject matter expert to field application engineers and select strategic customers
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to drive product and process innovation

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Controls, or related Engineering major
  • 5+ years of experience in an engineering role, preferably in the automation industry
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems and manufacturing processes
  • Experience and familiarity with Robot (Fanuc, ABB, Kuka, etc.) programming is desirable
  • Experience with SolidWorks and MS Office Suite
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with team members and clients

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with SolidWorks
  • Familiarity with Robot programming (Fanuc, ABB, Kuka, etc.)
