About the position

In this role, you will manage the North America (US and Canada) Product Biology team, focusing on early-stage Insect Control and Insect Resistance Management (IRM) research programs. Your strategic approach will be crucial for pipeline development, setting team priorities, and driving efforts to describe the biological attributes of active ingredients and resistance management for long-term product sustainability. You will work collaboratively with global Product Biology and regional Product Marketing business partners to ensure that development priorities are met in a timely manner, influencing active ingredient promotion decisions effectively. Your responsibilities will include collaborating with regional Product Marketing to ensure that projects align with regional needs and conducting continuous competitive benchmarking. You will lead projects and manage a team, representing Product Biology in regional multi-functional development teams, advising on and implementing testing programs that consider regional strategies. Generating and implementing innovative ideas for active ingredient development will be essential to enable rapid, efficient, and value-added incorporation into Syngenta's integrated solutions and initiatives. Additionally, you will build and deliver AI profiles that are well-scoped, with clearly understood technical attributes and resistance management strategies for active ingredient handoff to regional Product Marketing. You will manage the development of research protocols designed to identify biological targets, use rates, appropriate formulations, phytotoxicity, and solutions/sustainability fit. Monitoring and ensuring competitive benchmarking throughout product development will be part of your responsibilities, as well as serving as an advisor on Insect Resistance Management Strategies related to product sustainability, lifecycle management, and resistance risk across the competitive landscape. Participation in appropriate Professional Societies and/or University Organizations will be expected to represent Syngenta as a leader in product development and sustainability. You will also manage assigned research and travel budgets, ensuring effective allocation of resources.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the North America Product Biology team regarding early-stage Insect Control and Insect Resistance Management (IRM) research programs.

Requirements

  • Demonstrates high competencies in data analysis & interpretation.
  • Demonstrated public speaking effectiveness.
  • Excellent technical skills in at least one crop protection discipline.
  • Excellent statistical and analytical skills: High competency in data analysis and interpretation.
  • Strong project management skills, comfortable working independently on project planning and execution, including protocol development and trial budget planning.
