About the position

The Product Control Analyst will support the trading and finance teams at EDF Trading North America by managing daily P&L tracking and compiling finance reports. This role is crucial for ensuring accurate financial reporting and analysis related to commodity trading, particularly in Power, Gas, and Environmental Products.

Responsibilities

  • Understand/perform daily P&L production and reporting for commodity trading books and structured deals, focusing on Power, Gas, and Environmental Products.
  • Resolve any queries from traders or other departments relating to P&L and provide analysis and commentary.
  • Create and maintain a daily balancing dashboard and work with the commercial team to resolve discrepancies from intercompany activity.
  • Provide and maintain commentary for trading margin analysis for monthly and yearly performance (unrealized vs realized).
  • Assist with monthly liquidity reserves for all commodities and provide commentary.
  • Manage TPM workflows generated by the ETRM.
  • Assist in enhancing existing processes and developing new procedures to improve the efficiency of P&L production and tighten controls.
  • Understand and perform independent price validation on various commodities.
  • Perform analysis, create, and present presentations monthly to the curve committee.
  • Provide additional ad hoc reporting as required.
  • Perform and maintain applicable controls and monthly close activities.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Computer Science.
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in Product Control/Risk Management/Settlements/Volumes Analyst within energy trading, including internship experience.
  • Programming and coding knowledge highly preferred.
  • Experience creating reports in a viewer such as Power BI or Tableau is highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of Commodities/Energy.
  • Ability to work under pressure without compromising the quality of deliverables.
  • Good understanding of business processes and data management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Highly motivated and enthusiastic, able to respond to changes in priorities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with financial reporting in energy trading environments.
  • Familiarity with ETRM systems.
