About the position

The External Reporting Controller - Analyst role is a critical position within the Finance and Business Management group of the Corporate & Investment Banking business. This role focuses on maintaining a robust control environment and providing financial advice to support business strategies. The analyst will ensure the integrity of financial statements and controls over the transaction cycle while performing essential reporting functions for both financial and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Complete ownership of Basel III Regulatory Capital / RWA including securitization exposures, Traditional Credit Products exposures, Available-for-Sale exposures, market risk exposures, and Retail exposures.
  • Act as the primary face to the business for Capital, providing transaction support and guidance while liaising with Regulatory Policy.
  • Control, oversight, and integrity of the financial statements and end-to-end control around external reporting.
  • Work closely with line-product control teams to ensure completeness of processing.
  • Reconcile balance sheet to RWA and verify proper treatments based on activity and structures.
  • Produce submissions for Regulatory and External Reporting, including FFIEC 101, FR Y-15, and LLC specific Legal Entity reporting.
  • Understand key reports and reporting requirements, ensuring timely delivery and accuracy.
  • Adhere to stringent controls and standards across all processes, involving continuous process review, audits, and robust documentation of procedures, controls, and key metrics.
  • Contribute ideas and suggestions for improvements within the team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Strong technical skills and experience working with large amounts of data (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Results-oriented with strong attention to detail.
  • Experience in a controller organization.
  • Highly skilled at problem-solving with a logical and tenacious approach.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and influencing skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills; able to work on multiple initiatives with competing deadlines.
  • Self-motivated and willing to take initiative.
  • Knowledge or experience with fixed income products.

Nice-to-haves

  • Professional accounting qualification (e.g., CPA, ACA, CIMA).
  • CFA charter holder.
  • Familiarity with Basel 2.5 and Basel 3 Capital regimes.
  • Understanding of Balance Sheet and Capital.
