About the position

The Product Cyber Security Engineer role at Bell involves ensuring compliance and analysis of airborne cyber security artifacts for next-generation tiltrotor aircraft. This position is critical in producing a cyber resilient and survivable platform by engaging in cross-functional collaboration, process development, and adherence throughout the product lifecycle. The engineer will focus on deriving and allocating aircraft architecture design requirements, conducting threat modeling, and ensuring alignment with customer and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Engage in flight controls, avionics, or mission system architecture development to influence design for cyber security.
  • Conduct analytics of design options, identify risks, and propose mitigation steps.
  • Take ownership of vulnerability analysis through System Integration Labs (SILs).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure cyber security compliance throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Develop and document processes related to threat management and mitigation.
  • Serve as a liaison for various engineering functions, reviewing and validating design changes.
  • Implement applicable controls in accordance with DoDI 8510.01/8500.01 Risk Management Framework (RMF) certification.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a technical discipline (Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, Cyber Security, etc.).
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in cybersecurity, preferably 6 years or more with DoD RMF/DIACAP accreditation experience.
  • Familiarity with NIST SP 800-37/53/160v2 RMF publications, with preference for in-depth knowledge of NIST SP800 standards.
  • Experience generating SCTMs, POAMs, Risk Assessments, SSP, and Security Assessments.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a technical environment and negotiate design and cyber security trade-offs.
  • Ability to develop and communicate product cyber security requirements and perform residual risk assessments.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret level clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with DoD Cyber Survivability Endorsement Implementation Guide (CSEIG).
  • Experience with attack trees, tabletops, threat modeling, architectural design analysis, digital signing, software authenticity, and root of trust systems.
