About the position

As a Mechanical Engineer on the WATCH design team at Apple, you will play a crucial role in defining and designing the future of wearable technology. This position involves collaboration with cross-functional teams to develop the next generation of the Apple Watch, focusing on mechanical parts, materials, and innovative design solutions. You will be part of a small, visible team that emphasizes creativity, problem-solving, and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Define and design mechanical components for the Apple Watch.
• Collaborate with Industrial Design, Electrical Engineering, Antenna, Reliability, Sensors, Environmental, and Marketing teams.
• Demonstrate creativity in problem-solving and adapt to new technical areas.
• Promote innovation and new technology to enhance hardware performance and user experience.
• Apply Design for Manufacturability and Design for Assembly principles in product design.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or equivalent.
• Proficiency in CAD and technical drawings (GD&T).
• Experience in plastic and metal part design.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in Mechanical Engineering.
• Working knowledge of Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
• Application of statistical tools and techniques.

Nice-to-haves

• Master's degree preferred.
• 3-7 years of experience in detailed part and product design.
• Strong knowledge of materials and mass production processes.
• Experience working with overseas manufacturers.
