About the position

The Product Design Engineer at Alloy Engineering is responsible for applying engineering principles to design and improve metal products that are heat and corrosion-resistant. This mid-level role involves enhancing product performance, overseeing production processes, and providing technical support to sales and customers. Responsibilities

• Design and modify new and existing parts to enhance manufacturability and meet customer needs.
• Review quoting opportunities and support the sales team with product expertise.
• Review contracts and ensure information is communicated to relevant groups (engineering, quality, production).
• Communicate with customers regarding design changes and technical information to resolve issues.
• Perform failure analysis and provide solutions based on findings.
• Collaborate with vendors to evaluate options for customer solutions.
• Manage projects and provide engineering oversight during fabrication, answering questions and providing solutions as needed.
• Occasionally travel to customer sites to support sales and provide technical expertise.
• Establish standards and best practices for product design and engineering processes.
• Oversee projects from design through to shipping.

Requirements

• BS in Engineering or similar education combined with experience; Mechanical Engineering preferred.
• Minimum of 3+ years of experience in Engineering within a steel manufacturing environment; welding knowledge preferred.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings.
• Proficient with technology, especially Microsoft Office and 3D Modeling software (SolidWorks preferred).
• Strong analytical skills using drawing and math tools to solve complex problems.
• Excellent multitasking and attention to detail.
• Strong organizational skills.
