About the position

As an Engineering Project Manager (EPM) supporting the Watch Product Design (PD) organization, you will be responsible for technical project management and assisting engineering development within the Watch PD teams. The role focuses on system-level mechanical engineering design, managing development planning, and validation cycles to meet program objectives. The successful candidate will utilize their mechanical engineering background to drive day-to-day activities and ensure efficient development processes.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain a streamlined process for efficient development.
  • Drive upstream component/module builds to fulfill system engineering build demands.
  • Contribute to system build planning and execution.
  • Facilitate communication across multiple engineering teams, operations, industrial design, and vendor partners.
  • Understand technical issues and complex design trade-offs, facilitating decision-making discussions.
  • Identify risks, develop mitigation strategies, and facilitate conflict resolution.
  • Create and maintain complex project schedules for product enclosure and internal mechanical components.
  • Respond quickly to changes and minimize project impact.
  • Provide timely issue resolution and critical path management.
  • Understand system-level part interactions and manage plans for reliability testing.
  • Coordinate cosmetic and functional partial unit builds for key reviews and early testing.

Requirements

  • Engineering degree or equivalent required; BSME Preferred.
  • 2+ years prior product development experience in project management or mechanical engineering design.
  • Detailed knowledge of product development process and cycles.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals and manufacturing processes.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience interfacing with mechanical engineering/design, operations, and vendors.
  • Experience setting up project schedules and work breakdown structures.
  • Experience in consumer electronics.
  • Experience as a practicing engineer.
  • Experience with high-volume manufacturing.
