About the position

TikTok is the leading destination for short-form mobile video, and our mission is to inspire creativity and bring joy. As part of this mission, we are seeking an experienced Product Design Manager to join the TikTok Shop design team. This innovative e-commerce solution enables merchants, brands, and creators to sell products directly on TikTok, leveraging its discovery power to reach an audience of over 1 billion people each month. In this role, you will build, lead, and inspire a team of designers, driving end-to-end designs for innovative commerce experiences on TikTok's global platform. This position is pivotal during one of TikTok's most significant periods of growth, influencing the strategic direction of our products and ensuring high-quality design execution. As a design leader, you will work collaboratively with cross-functional peers and design leadership to align on strategic priorities, define product design direction for end-to-end experiences, and allocate design resources effectively. You will establish strong relationships with senior leaders and key stakeholders, modeling collaborative leadership that elevates the voice of product design within the organization. Your role will involve anticipating areas of opportunity or conflict and managing them proactively with articulate communication. You will also be responsible for building a team of exceptional designers through intentional planning, proactive recruitment, and strong performance management. Fostering a culture that celebrates quality, encourages creativity and inclusivity, and drives real impact for businesses and people that rely on TikTok will be essential. Additionally, you will drive high-quality design through articulate feedback, implement effective processes to enhance team efficiency, and regularly communicate project statuses to manage stakeholder expectations.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a design leader who has delivered impactful work that has moved businesses forward.
  • Experience collaborating with senior leadership to influence product strategy and development processes.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate ideas to stakeholders at all levels.
  • A strong track record of scaling and managing a high-performing team of designers.
  • Strong product intuition and problem-solving skills, translating complex user needs into engaging design solutions.
  • Ability to thrive in ambiguity with a bias towards action in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent project management skills, with a track record of delivering complex projects on time.
  • Passion for e-commerce, user experience, and emerging trends in digital retail.
