About the position

As a Product Design Manager for TikTok Shop, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of e-commerce on one of the world's most dynamic platforms. TikTok Shop is an innovative solution that empowers merchants, brands, and creators to sell products directly on TikTok, leveraging the platform's vast reach to connect with over a billion users each month. In this position, you will lead a talented team of designers, driving the end-to-end design process for commerce experiences that are not only functional but also engaging and user-friendly. Your leadership will be crucial in influencing the strategic direction of our products during a significant growth phase for TikTok. In this role, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams and design leadership to align on strategic priorities and define the product design direction. You will be responsible for allocating design resources effectively to ensure smooth execution of projects. Building strong relationships with senior leaders and stakeholders will be essential, as you will need to model collaborative leadership and elevate the voice of product design within the organization. You will also proactively manage potential conflicts and opportunities, ensuring that communication is clear and constructive. Your responsibilities will include fostering a culture of creativity and inclusivity within your team, ensuring that designers are empowered to produce their best work. You will provide articulate feedback that enhances the quality of design outputs and helps unblock teams when necessary. Additionally, you will implement processes that improve efficiency and adapt to the evolving needs of the business, regularly communicating project statuses and managing stakeholder expectations. This role is not just about managing a team; it's about inspiring and guiding them to create impactful designs that resonate with users and drive business success.

Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional peers and design leadership to drive alignment on strategic priorities and define product design direction for end-to-end experiences.
  • Establish strong relationships with senior leaders and key stakeholders across functions, modeling collaborative leadership and elevating the voice of product design.
  • Build a team of exceptional designers with intentional planning, proactive recruitment, and strong performance management.
  • Drive high quality design with articulate feedback that improves the teams' ideas and executions.
  • Implement effective processes that enhance the efficiency and design quality of the team.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a design leader who has delivered impactful work that has moved businesses forward.
  • Experience collaborating with senior leadership to influence product strategy and product development processes.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively articulate ideas and rationale to stakeholders at all levels.
  • A strong track record of scaling and managing a high-performing team of designers.
  • Strong product intuition and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex user needs into intuitive design solutions.
  • Ability to thrive in ambiguity with a bias towards action and adapt to a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent project management skills, with a track record of successfully delivering complex projects on time.
  • Passion for e-commerce, user experience, and emerging trends in digital retail.
