About the position

The Product Designer, Accessibility Specialist at Meta Platforms, Inc. is responsible for ensuring that the design components and patterns within the Meta Design System are accessible and compliant with relevant standards. This role involves providing guidance on accessibility issues, training designers, and preparing teams for compliance with regulations such as the European Accessibility Act. The specialist will also design fully accessible patterns and components, propose inclusive design initiatives, and lead large-scale accessibility projects across various Meta products.

Responsibilities

  • Review accessibility compliance of components and patterns in the Meta Design System.
  • Provide guidance on accessibility issues to designers and developers across Meta products.
  • Advise on compliance issues and their regulatory consequences, suggesting fixes.
  • Train designers on accessibility considerations and accessible design practices.
  • Propose new inclusive design products and strategies.
  • Prepare teams for the adoption of the European Accessibility Act.
  • Design fully accessible patterns and components for the Meta Design System.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Web System and Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Analytics, Mathematics, Physics, Applied Sciences, or a related field.
  • 60 months of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.
  • 48 months of experience applying WCAG 2.0 AA to web apps across mobile and desktop.
  • Experience leading large-scale projects involving multiple cross-functional teams.
  • Experience creating documentation for accessibility initiatives at scale.
  • Knowledge of web accessibility and user experience design.
  • Experience in front-end web development and building applications at scale.
  • Proficiency in interaction design and prototyping.
  • Strong visual design skills including typography, UI, color, layout, and iconography.
  • Ability to understand product goals and make user-centric design decisions.
  • Experience creating user flows and mockups to articulate design concepts.
  • Experience leading end-to-end design processes across multiple projects.
