Product Designer, Data Visualization

Product Designers at Databricks balance the creativity of a craftsperson with the analytical curiosity of a data scientist. We design simple and collaborative products that have the power to delight a discriminating and highly technical audience. We're looking for a Product Designer to reimagine our documentation experiences across our products - transforming them into intuitive, engaging, and delightful experiences that empower our customers to do more with Databricks.

Responsibilities

• Lead a wide range of data visualization product features and initiatives across Databricks
• Establish visual guidelines, UX patterns, and reusable components to keep our docs consistent and user-friendly
• Gain a deep understanding of Databricks business objectives, users, market opportunities, and competition
• Become well-versed on the Databricks product and its personas (Data scientists, data engineers, data analysts and administrators)
• Deliver designs for Databricks' product and contribute to the overall direction of the product
• Work closely with Engineering, Product Management and other key leadership to drive critical initiatives from ideation to completion
• Actively seek & provide design feedback and collaboratively improve the design process

Requirements

• 7+ years of product design work experience
• A bachelor's or master's degree or equivalent, ideally with specialization in HCI, Interaction Design, graphic design, computer science, or related disciplines
• Proven ability to ship great online help experiences across different platforms
• Experience conducting user research and validating design concepts early and often with customers
• Proven ability to drive complex design projects from concept to execution, balancing strategic vision with hands-on implementation
• Systems-thinking mindset, demonstrated by experience designing at least one scalable design system or component library used by engineering teams
• A natural communicator who can explain and document the behavior of the components they design
• A portfolio showcasing the end-to-end design process, from inception to production

Nice-to-haves

• Experience designing products in the Big Data space
• Coding experience in Python, R, SQL or other languages relevant to the field of data visualization
