About the position

The Product Designer II role focuses on enhancing consumer discovery and merchandising within the Eats team at Uber. The position involves tackling significant design challenges, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and creating delightful user experiences across various platforms including iOS, Android, and web. The designer will influence product strategy and contribute to the overall direction of the company’s design initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Design magical experiences that help consumers discover new things and grow the business.
  • Influence product strategy and direction for major company initiatives.
  • Break down large ambiguous problems into simple solutions and drive them from concept through completion.
  • Explore creative ways to merchandise products throughout the user journey.
  • Raise the bar on design quality across the organization.
  • Think systematically to create scalable and elegant experiences.
  • Leverage UX Research to understand and design solutions for global customers.

Requirements

  • 3+ years experience in designing consumer products.
  • A portfolio showcasing high-quality visual and interaction designs.
  • Proficiency with design tools, particularly Figma.
  • Ability to present work in various mediums and fidelities throughout the design process.
  • Experience in giving and soliciting feedback to improve design quality.
  • Ability to maintain consistency with existing brand guidelines and standards.
  • Experience building products for Android, iOS, and web.
  • A track record of shipping great design and understanding of the release cycle.
  • Ability to think at a high level about product strategy and vision.
  • Experience in identifying and solving complex design problems.
  • Effective prototyping skills, with motion design skills as a bonus.
  • Ability to prioritize projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong understanding of user-centered design methods and principles.
  • Experience collaborating with diverse teams in a rapid-growth environment.
  • Ability to articulate design work and rationale to peers and cross-functional teams.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with motion design skills.
  • Familiarity with various design tools beyond Figma.
