About the position

We're looking for a Product Designer with a talent for designing data visualizations. You'll be working as a designer on the Dataviz Design Team translating business needs and user insights into designs for visualizations that help users understand and troubleshoot their cloud infrastructure. You'll work within the product design team and collaborate with other designers and engineers to build custom, interactive visualizations that are central to Datadog's observability products. What You'll Do: Work with other product designers, product managers, and engineers, to understand how our customers use visualizations across Datadog and what they need to succeed. See your design work through from start to finish: gain insights from user research, sketch ideas, build prototypes, and communicate with engineers that build the products and features that make Datadog better. Become an expert in your product area. Communicate both your design work and the support for your design decisions across the company. Work closely with engineering teams to understand how your designs will be built.

Responsibilities

• Work with other product designers, product managers, and engineers to understand customer needs regarding visualizations.
• See design work through from start to finish, including user research, sketching ideas, building prototypes, and communicating with engineers.
• Become an expert in the product area.
• Communicate design work and the rationale behind design decisions across the company.
• Collaborate closely with engineering teams to understand the implementation of designs.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience in digital product design.
• Experience building code-based prototypes with D3.js or similar visualization frameworks.
• Knowledge of advanced design tools (e.g., Figma, or Framer).
• A portfolio that includes a proven track record of designing visualizations for interactive web applications.
• Excellent visual and written communication skills.
• Understanding of systems thinking and component-based design patterns.
• Ability to give and receive feedback effectively.
