In this interdisciplinary role, the Product Designer II will be responsible for designing user interactions with our products and services. This position requires a blend of product design skills and the ability to conceptualize, ideate, test, and implement design solutions that align with the goals of users, clients, and organizations. The ideal candidate will excel at capturing, synthesizing, and communicating complex ideas, transforming them into simple and intuitive solutions. The role involves collaboration with Product Owners, Engineers, and other Designers to prioritize features and ensure that customer goals and user needs are met. Additionally, the Product Designer II will engage in research strategies, manage design systems, and assess usability through various testing methods. We are looking for a candidate who can independently execute design solutions with minimal direction, coach and mentor others, and strengthen our product design community. The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience and a strong background in design tools such as Figma, Mural, and Jira. This role also requires the ability to obtain security clearance and successfully complete US Election Assistance Commission testing. Responsibilities

  • Independently execute and implement design solutions with minimal direction from senior Designers or team leaders.
  • Coach and mentor others to develop their professional skills and improve the quality of their work.
  • Strengthen Fearless' product design community and foster positive collaboration across the company.
  • Work with Product Owners and Engineers to conceptualize and prioritize features, flows, and user interfaces for development.
  • Collaborate with Designers, Engineers, Scrum Masters, and Product Managers to guide design best practices within the team.
  • Engage with Engineers and technical leads to implement features that meet design specifications and deliver business value.
  • Define and execute research strategies in collaboration with other Designers and team members.
  • Capture, synthesize, and communicate the needs and goals of users, technical and business stakeholders, clients, and Engineers.
  • Implement user requirements specifications & experience goals, personas, storyboards, journey maps, scenarios, flowcharts, and design specifications.
  • Collect and synthesize large amounts of conflicting information to implement simple designs and provide recommendations for change to a system.
  • Manage and maintain the utilization and implementation of robust design systems throughout a project's life cycle.
  • Design wireframes, low and high fidelity mockups, and interactive prototypes of user interfaces (UIs).
  • Assess and improve the usability of products through research, rapid prototyping, and usability testing.
  • Develop and apply frameworks for implementing user experience, such as style guides, component libraries, and design systems.
  • Collaborate with the team and customer to define and measure success metrics.
  • Review design artifacts and provide feedback to ensure high quality standards.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years of demonstrated related work experience.
  • Experience working with Figma, Mural, and Jira.
  • Ability to obtain the security clearance required by the project: Public Trust.
  • Ability to successfully complete US Election Assistance Commission (EAC) testing.
  • Demonstrated background working in DesignOps.
  • Experience training design teams and end users.
  • Ability to communicate and facilitate discussions around usability, accessibility, and interaction design.
  • Experience with visual and user interface design, including typography, layout, color theory, and common interaction patterns.
  • Experience with interaction design and front-end technologies.
  • Experience designing style guides, component libraries, frontend frameworks, and design systems.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a group and provide varying feedback to the team.
  • Ability to select the appropriate prototyping method for the task at hand.
  • Ability to identify and communicate constraints and work within them.
  • Experience establishing, iterating, and documenting design patterns to solve problems.
  • Ability to effectively communicate research findings, conceptual ideas, detailed design, and design rationale both verbally and visually.
  • Experience using a variety of design and prototyping tools.
  • Experience implementing and coaching others on design best practices and standards.
