About the position

The Product Designer at Vantage Plastics is responsible for creating a variety of 3D CAD models and 2D drawings for injection molded products. This role involves collaboration with the Engineering Department and reporting directly to the Engineering Manager. The designer will develop ergonomic mechanisms, create prototype-intent models, and ensure all necessary documentation is maintained, including ISO9001:2005 compliance.

Responsibilities

• Create 3D conceptual designs and 2D drawings for various injection molded products within a reasonable time frame.
• Develop ergonomic mechanisms for various mechanical applications.
• Create prototype-intent 3D models and corresponding tooling files for suppliers.
• Create 3D CAD tooling fixtures for product processing.
• Work with Project Managers to write up changes to a prototype/production tool and update 3D CAD and prints accordingly.
• Ensure projects have all necessary documentation, including ISO9001:2005 documents.
• Identify areas of improvement with management and set company goals.
• Assist fellow Product Designers in the concept/design of their projects.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment.
• Lead small R&D projects.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 5+ years experience in injection molded product and mechanical design.
• Knowledge and proficiency in SolidWorks or equivalent 3D parametric modeling software.
• Ability to create, acquire, analyze, or interpret information logically and translate it into 3D CAD models.
• Computer proficiency and attention to detail.
• Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and possess advanced math skills.
• Ability to work as part of a team and under pressure.

Nice-to-haves

• Additional experience with SolidWorks, CATIA, FEA Analysis, Moldflow software, and ERP (PLEX).
