About the position

The UX Designer at Allstate plays a crucial role in shaping industry-leading experiences through human-centered design methods, guiding projects from ideation to the launch of products or services. In this position, you will collaborate daily with a diverse team of UX practitioners, engineers, developers, product managers, and various business partners to create innovative solutions that align with user needs and key business objectives. Allstate's UX team is a large and respected digital design organization, consisting of over 115 passionate professionals, including UX Designers, Content Designers, Researchers, Visual Designers, and Design Program Managers, all led by the Director of UX. The organization is focused on evolving UX across numerous digital products and services, establishing a shared design platform that includes an expanded design system, reusable content, user research, and design thinking methodologies. As a UX Designer, you will participate in a collaborative and friendly remote team environment that values diversity and supports long-term career and skills growth. You will contribute to large-scale digital systems and products that impact millions of customers, helping to innovate and reinvent insurance while improving customers' lives. The role emphasizes true user-centered design, supported by robust research and analytics capabilities, allowing you to design products that assist customers in their moments of greatest need. You will be expected to provide work samples that demonstrate your design philosophy for native applications on iOS or Android, as applicants without native mobile designs in their portfolios will not be considered. In this role, you will work closely with the UX lead and product team to plan and deliver UX in an agile development environment. You will model human-centered design approaches to frame problems, uncover patterns, and visualize possibilities. Utilizing design thinking methods, you will iterate through concepts that can be tested and validated with users, leveraging data and user feedback to drive design decisions. Your ability to communicate clear user experience concepts through deliverables such as wireframes, flow diagrams, storyboards, and prototypes using industry-standard software like Figma and Mural will be essential. You will also collaborate with product teams to assess and prioritize opportunities, advocating for the end user while balancing business goals.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with UX lead and product team to plan and deliver UX in an agile development environment.
  • Model how to use human-centered design approaches to frame problems, uncover patterns, discover opportunities, and visualize possibilities.
  • Use design thinking methods to iterate through concepts that can be tested and validated with users.
  • Leverage data and user feedback to drive and influence design decisions.
  • Be open to feedback and engage in active listening.
  • Communicate clear, focused user experience concepts for products during all stages of the design process using deliverables such as wireframes, flow diagrams, storyboards, and prototypes using industry software like Figma and Mural.
  • Collaborate within product teams - assess and prioritize opportunities, constraints, and features - advocating for the end user while balancing the negotiation of priorities and business goals.
  • Independently and in partnership with researchers, facilitate feedback loops through frequent and appropriate user research, testing, and metrics analysis, to inform solutions.
  • Continuously grow your depth of knowledge and apply it to evolve or craft new product opportunities, including information architecture, research opportunities, and platform capabilities.
  • Collaborate with product owners, engineers, and cross-functional stakeholders to understand experience and technology requirements to provide creative and thoughtful solutions.
  • Measure design solutions with metrics that matter; ensure qualitative and quantitative data is captured and used appropriately to inform decisions.

Requirements

  • 4 year Bachelor's Degree (Preferred)
  • 3 or more years of experience (Preferred)
  • Strong communication, organization, and presentation skills.
  • Understands the constraints of technology platforms: Native Mobile, Responsive Web, and Internet of Things (IoT).
  • A smart, solid portfolio that demonstrates how you think.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Design, Service Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Interaction Design, Information Sciences, Psychology, Human Factors, and/or Computer Science is a plus.
  • Knowledge of both iOS and Android platforms is a plus.
  • Experience designing in insurance, financial, or highly regulated verticals is a plus.
