About the position

The position at Notion involves designing product concepts that harmonize vision, craftsmanship, speed, and business potential. The role requires a strong product and UX sense, technical aptitude, and the ability to execute projects from inception to pixel-perfect execution. The designer will collaborate with various teams to understand user needs and drive the product roadmap, while also evolving the design system as the company scales.

Responsibilities

• Design product concepts that balance vision, craft, speed, and business potential.
• Craft every detail of new product features from idea to pixel-perfect execution.
• Run projects end to end with engineers to drive your vision to the ship line.
• Partner closely with Customer Experience, Sales, and Customer Success teams to understand user needs.
• Use data and intuition to prioritize, plan, and scope the product roadmap.
• Work with Marketing to devise storytelling strategies across various channels.
• Create new patterns that are intuitive, practical, and convergent.
• Evolve the design system intentionally as the company scales.

Requirements

• 5+ years of working experience in product design or UX.
• Ability to run projects independently from start to finish.
• Strong understanding of customer needs and user experience advocacy.
• Skill in creating clear, intuitive, and visually appealing human interfaces.
• Ability to balance craft, speed, and business implications in design.
• Strong collaboration skills with different stakeholders.
• Ability to tell stories using both words and visuals.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience designing and building tools with small teams.
• Unique strengths and perspectives that complement the team.
• Familiarity with the work of computing pioneers like Douglas Engelbart and Alan Kay.
• Ability to code as a designer.
• Experience with fragmented tools and a desire to improve them.
