About the position

The Designer, Soft Décor role at Target involves creating innovative and high-quality designs for Target-owned brands across various soft goods categories, with a primary focus on Bedding. This position requires collaboration with multiple teams to ensure brand cohesion and alignment with merchant objectives, while also managing the product development process from concept to execution.

Responsibilities

  • Support and be responsible for Owned Brand product brands and/or categories that achieve overall product design strategy and merchant objectives.
  • Drive brand cohesion and continuity across soft goods categories, ensuring alignment with merchant line plans and assortment strategies.
  • Conduct timely communication with internal and external partners, managing deliverables and deadlines.
  • Conduct sample reviews and prepare for milestone presentations.
  • Support and drive concepts throughout all stages of the development process, including research, material selection, and color application.
  • Translate ideas for product direction using CAD/hand sketches, focusing on Bedding and supporting other categories as needed.
  • Collaborate with Product Engineering, Technical Development, and Sourcing teams to ensure designs meet quality requirements and pricing goals.

Requirements

  • 4-year Degree in Design (Product Design or Textile Design preferred)
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in product development (home textile experience preferred)
  • Strong aptitude for trend, design, and print & pattern; demonstrated high taste level and creative ability.
  • Ability to respond to business objectives with creative, original, and cost-effective design solutions.
  • Proficient in all Adobe Creative Suite programs.
  • Experience assimilating product feedback.
  • Highly collaborative and able to work successfully in a team environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
