About the position

CommIT Enterprises, Inc. is seeking a Product Designer/UI Artist to join the team in Charleston, SC. The role focuses on delivering value through design decisions by understanding users and defining solutions that are desirable, useful, and usable. The Product Designer will work closely on user research to validate assumptions before development work is added to the backlog, contributing to various projects supporting the Department of Defense and the Department of Veteran's Affairs.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct user interviews to gather insights.
  • Define user personas for targeted design.
  • Perform usability testing to enhance user experience.
  • Engage in service design to improve service delivery.
  • Create UI/UX designs that align with user needs.
  • Collaborate with the Product Manager (PM) to prioritize features.
  • Establish an Outcome Oriented Product Roadmap with the PM.
  • Manage the backlog and produce metrics in Atlassian Jira and Confluence.
  • Collaborate with engineers on test-driven development and pair programming.
  • Participate in evolutionary design and collective code ownership.
  • Conduct retrospectives and work in short iterations with CI/CD practices.
  • Define and articulate product vision, strategy, and roadmap with the PM.
  • Identify and define the Minimum Viable Product (MVP).
  • Test assumptions and release real products frequently.
  • Adjust direction based on user data and feedback.
  • Coordinate with Cybersecurity to resolve items on the POA&M.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electronic Systems, or a related field.
  • 5-7 years of relevant experience in product design or UI/UX.
  • Experience working in a Department of Defense (DoD) and Agile Development environment.
  • Basic understanding of cloud architecture.
  • Ability to correlate requirements to specific tasking.
  • Familiarity with JIRA and updating tickets with appropriate content.
  • Experience with documentation using Atlassian Confluence.
