About the position

As a Product Designer at OpenEye, you will be integral to the Software Engineering team, focusing on the development of user-facing interfaces for video management products. This role involves collaborating with Product Management and Software Engineering to create UI designs that enhance user experience and functionality. You will tackle UX/UI challenges, advocate for design solutions, and bring innovative concepts to life in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to and refine OpenEye's design style guidelines.
  • Develop engineering-ready UI mockups.
  • Lead individual design projects from conception to completion, acting as the primary designer for assigned tasks.
  • Work closely with Product Managers and senior designers to refine and iterate on feature designs based on requirements and stakeholder feedback.
  • Conduct user research, including interviews and usability testing, to gather insights on user needs and pain points.
  • Perform routine reviews of UX changes developed by the software engineering team to ensure alignment with design standards.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and competitor products to continuously improve and innovate on OpenEye's user interfaces.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Design, HCI, or related field.
  • 3+ years of professional experience in UI/UX or Product Design.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating UI/UX design for complex applications.
  • Proficiency with design software (e.g., Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD).
  • Solid understanding of design principles, user-centered methodologies, and usability best practices.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to advocate for design choices.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with project management methodologies (Agile, Scrum, Kanban) and tools (e.g., Jira).
  • Experience working in a software engineering or technology environment.
  • Basic understanding of software development processes and technologies.
