About the position

The Product Designer at KECO will be an integral part of the Engineering team, responsible for managing multiple design projects from inception to completion. This role focuses on designing, developing, and prototyping products used in the collision repair industry, ensuring that projects are completed efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Initiate and prioritize design projects assigned by the Engineering Manager.
  • Communicate status of projects to cross-functional teams and develop timelines for completion.
  • Manage multiple product development projects from beginning to end in a quick-to-market environment.
  • Design and develop product prototypes using CAD software and 3D modeling.
  • Create product design concepts, build prototypes, and set up testing and evaluation.
  • Test prototypes to refine design parameters and resolve any functionality issues.
  • Interact with supply chain for sourcing and quoting new products.
  • Work with external suppliers and manufacturing to develop prototypes and samples for design evaluation, testing, and approval.
  • Coordinate with manufacturing engineering to implement production processes that align with design specifications.
  • Develop engineering drawings and specifications for newly designed products.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, QC, and Sales to troubleshoot issues with new and existing products.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor or management.

Requirements

  • Proficient use of CAD, SolidWorks, and MS Office.
  • Knowledge of the full design lifecycle from conceptualization to production.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience designing manufacturable products.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage projects from start to finish without constant guidance.
  • Experience with 3D printing and computer-aided manufacturing technologies is preferred.
  • Ability to create 2D engineering drawings from design models for production and suppliers.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Proficient computer and technological skills.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions, both written and oral.
  • Capable of effectively presenting information to internal and external groups.
  • Experience in manufacturing, plastic molding, and machining is preferred.
  • Self-motivated and able to manage workload with little or no supervision.
